Eolus was founded in 1990 as the first independent wind power developer in Sweden. Founded by some of the pioneers of the Swedish wind industry Eolus are developing renewable projects based on almost 30 years of experience. Development, construction, sales and operating wind farms has been core business all the way from the start. In 2017 Eolus Articles of Association was updated to also include development and sales of other renewable energy sources as well as storage.
How many staff members are on the team currently & do you find it difficult to find quality local and international staff?
Eolus has about 40 employees in Europe. Renewable energy is a global megatrend that attracts a lot of talents. In general, we are able to recruit the skilled and committed employees that is needed and a key factor for our success.
Do any of the staff and or management team hold any shares within the company?
We are proud that all members of the management team hold Eolus shares. So do most of the staff.
During your time at the company, what's been your greatest achievement thus far?
For me personally the first transaction with Munich Re back in 2013 was a significant milestone and a confirmation that the quality of our wind farms and our commitment could attract some of the largest investors in Europe. Following that success, the majority of our wind farms have been sold as turn-key facilities to international investors. In addition the PPA:s with Google and Alcoa are landmarks that really shows the competitiveness of good wind power projects.
What is your medium to long-term goal & has it been consistent for some time?
Eolus’s overall objectives for the next three years are: • That our stakeholders (customers, employees, suppliers and shareholders) perceive us as an attractive and leading renewable energy player in all of the markets in which we operate. • Average return of at least 10% on equity after tax. • To broaden the technological platform of our operations by participating in the establishment of at least one solar farm or energy storage facility. • To initiate the development of new wind power projects in Nordic and Baltic countries to secure a long-term and commercially viable portfolio for establishment from 2022 and onwards.
What sets your company apart from others within your industry?
Flexible approach to projects and operational assets. “Everything is for sale” at Eolus. Clear business focus in early stage development. A willingness to always challenge our own portfolio of projects and admitting that at the end of the day, all projects must fulfill the expectations of the end investor as well as being acceptable and hopefully wanted by the local community.
Please share with us your favourite memory and or event since you joined the company?
I can’t really pick one single memory. The overall feeling of contributing to the ongoing revolution of the energy market is overwhelming and makes it exciting to go to work each day. The moments in a project or transaction when you and your team realize that “we will succeed – the remaining pieces will fall in place” are fantastic to experience.
