Polygiene was founded 12 years ago, as a spin-off from the research and development department of the Perstorp Group. Back then, Perstorp started treating surfaces to protect them against microbes for customers within the plastic and protective industries. After a few years, the company expanded into the textile industry, which is now Polygiene’s main business area. Polygiene is now listed on Nasdaq First North in Stockholm and has been since 2016.
How many staff do you have currently on the team and do you find it difficult to find quality local and international staff?
We are a global team of 18 persons located in more than six countries. It?s difficult to find the right people with the right skills and mindset, but I must say that today I have exactly the right people on board at Polygiene.
Do any of the staff and or management team hold any shares within the company?
Yes, many of the staff hold shares in Polygiene and everybody has been offered stock options in the company. All board members also hold shares as well.
During your time at the company, what has been your greatest achievement thus far?
I’ve only been CEO since January of this year and it has been a journey for sure. The greatest achievements so far have been gathering a great team together, creating a solid management group and defining our strategy for moving forward. We also did a great job structuring various processes and focusing on creating a profitable business.
What are your medium- to long-term goals and have these goals been consistent for some time?
Yes, we have been consistent in our goals. Our short-term goal is to achieve profitability while demonstrating sustainable growth. Scalability is key. Through the years, Polygiene has proven that the company can adapt to changes in both size and scale. In the long term, we will become the major player in our field and achieve healthy, profitable growth. The potential is huge ? and we have the best brand within odor control technology and Stays Fresh solutions.
What sets your company apart from those within your industry? What's your X-factor per say?
Together with our brand partners, we are building an ingredient brand for Stays Fresh solutions. Nobody else is doing this. Among consumers, brand recognition for Polygiene is at 5%, which is huge. I?d say our X-factor is working closely with our brand partners and helping them add value to their brand. This helps them increase both their sales and their margins and it helps us build the Polygiene brand.
Could you please share with us your favorite memory and or event since you joined the company?
I love to attend the big shows and this year, for the first time, we had our own booth at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Denver. Being out there meeting our customers is the best thing ever and striking up a partnership with a great brand always makes me feel good!
