Smoltek is a spin out from Chalmers University of Technology and was founded in late 2005. We are headquartered in Gothenburg and are public since February 2018, our shares are listed at Spotlight Stock Market.
Smoltek specializes in development and integration of carbon nanostructure fabrication technology. We are literally pushing the limits for scaling of microelectronics. The disruptive CNF-MIM technology is tailored for fabrication of high-performance solid state capacitors as discrete components, or directly integrated on an interposer or the active semiconductor itself.
How many staff members are on the team currently & do you find it difficult to find quality local and international staff?
Currently the staff counts to 10 persons. We have also a senior business representant in South Korea.
Do any of the staff and or management team hold any shares within the company?
Everyone in the management team and most of the staff holds shares and warrants, directly or indirectly.
During your time at the company, what's been your greatest achievement thus far?
A consistent long term build of a comprehensive IP portfolio (patents and knowhow) that has resulted in demonstration of industrially attractive data for our CNF-MIM solid state capacitor concept.
What is your medium to long-term goal & has it been consistent for some time?
Our business model is Licensing of our technology. Our strategic goal for 2019 is a first signed license agreement for our CNF-MIM technology.
What sets your company apart from others within your industry?
We have a strong IP portfolio that is still growing. With our CNF-MIM technology we have a first application that can play a disruptive roll in making integrated circuits even more efficiently integrated. The carbon nanotechnology in the CNF-MIM is based on an innovative, unorthodox, approach. That said our CNF-MIM technology requires no other process technologies than what is already used out there.
Could you please share with us your favourite memory and or event since you joined the company?
This kind of difficult since I’ve been heading Smoltek close to 9 years… I would probably say the time a few years back when we, after years of sales efforts started to receive serious interest in our technology from real industrial players – that point made a clear shift from what I before used to refer to as skeptical curiosity.
